Double Trouble Brewing’s Hops & Robbers Hits the LCBO this May
By the May 24 long weekend the LCBO will be listing a new Ontario Craft Beer brewed in the modern fashion - on contract by a reputable brewer and sold in a can. In this case, Double Trouble’s Brewmaster Paul Dickey is a Grand Master Certified Beer Judge and renowned brewer in the Ontario beer scene, and is brewing Hobs & Robbers at the Wellington Brewery in Guelph. Hops & Robbers leans on the American Style Pale Ale category weighing in at 5.7% abv and in the 50ish IBU range. The focus here is hops for flavour and aroma, not bitterness in order to create a sessionable pale ale with fresh and exciting hop character and balancing malt sweetness. So far Hops & Robbers has had a great launch party, and is available on draught at and increasing number of pubs across southwester Ontario. It will be exciting to see this, along with more new Ontario Craft Beers find shelf space at the LCBO over the coming years. Well done Ontario!
